For those too excited to wait until midnight, or for those fans of New Year’s Eve who want to conduct the countdown twice, there are separate Beach Ball Drops at both 8:00 p.m. and midnight. Families with young children and adults looking to stay up until after the calendar page actually turns both have options about how best to celebrate the New Year with thousands of other revelers close to Panama City Beach’s pristine waterfront and many amenities.

On the way to midnight, bands perform for the gathering crowd, anticipating the countdown to 2022 when a huge, glowing beach ball is lowered to signal the start of the New Year, and another great fireworks display. Time Square has nothing on this Panama City Beach NYE party!

Breathtaking Beaches

Camp Helen Beach

Camp Helen State Park Beach is one of the most popular and picturesque beaches in Panama City Beach. It features sugary white sand and sparkling cerulean water. There are many fun things you can do on your getaway to Camp Helen State Park Beach. For example, you can go beachcombing and look for shells, swim in the pristine water, try saltwater fishing, and activities like kayaking, canoeing, boating, and paddleboarding.

St. Andrews Beach

St. Andrews State Park Beach is a stunning coastline surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico and Saint Andrew Bay.

Go on a fun-filled adventure at St. Andrews State Park Beach with your friends, family, or partner. Here, you can do a multitude of fun activities in the crystal clear emerald water, such as scuba diving, snorkeling, canoeing, kayaking, surfing, paddleboarding, and so much more.

Shell Island

The natural environment at Shell Island lends itself to more than just playing in the water. You can walk around the island and explore the habitat to search for ghost crabs, deer, and endangered green sea turtles.  It is important to observe the markers surrounding the nests and appreciate their natural emergence as they head to the nests to lay eggs.

You can also find an array of seashells and sand dollars on the beach and the occasional conch shell. While the primitive and undisturbed environment of Shell Island is what makes it appealing, you will need to bring everything with you for the day. You will want to pack drinks and food and take trash with you when you leave, as there are no concession stands or trash receptacles.
